Lilika Makabe

Lilika Makabe received the Ph.D. degree in information science from the University of Osaka, Japan, in 2026, under the supervision of Professor Yasuyuki Matsushita. Her research interests lie in computer vision, particularly 3D reconstruction and physics-based vision, with a focus on understanding the shape and appearance of the physical world from images. She is also interested in how such visual understanding can be leveraged beyond perception, as in vision-language-action (VLA) models.

From October 2026, I'm joining Professor Shree Nayar's lab at Columbia University as a visiting scholar.
